What else can I say...it's a huge band-aid!!!!!!!

As I was perusing the Sunday Oregonian on the 16th...I came across a very bright and interesting newspaper adertisment insert. Being a person who is constantly bombarded with advertising I was pleseantly surprised when this caught my eye.

I think what it was about the advertisement was not the striking graphics or colors but the wittiness of the copy. "Cable high speed customers, we feel your pain" and then with the band-aid below it.

The inside goes on to say "feel better fast" and "let the healing begin." Both clever plays on words when comparing health/healing to faster internet.

Bravo to Qwest to doing something mildly interesting...although it hasn't made me want to switch from Comcast...

3-D Double D's??

Has Hugh Hefner taken it too far or is he just keeping up with the 3D craze (ie. Avatar, Alice in Wonderland, etc)?

This months Playboy magazine showcases Hope Dworaczyk in a three dimensional pictorial. Having seen said photograph after an embarrassing trip to Barnes & Noble...I have to say...slightly disappointed. The photo of Hope was...don't get me wrong...gorgeous but the 3D was less than exciting.

I think that Hef should have invested a little more in the development of the 3D photograph because of the quality. I even had a few guy friends judge it and they asked, "you sure it's in 3D?"

Although it did create a nice buzz for the Playboy brand, they have lost significant circulation since 2006 (3.5 million) to only 1.5 million today. This could be a step in the right direction.

chipotle train

"People all over the world (everybody). Join hands (join). Start a CHIPOTLE train, CHIPOTLE train
People all over the world (all the world, now). Join hands (love ride). Start a CHIPOTLE train (love ride), CHIPOTLE train."

What is most awesome in the world....decent public transit and Chipotle.

I was in class (in ASRC bldg) when I looked out onto 6th ave and saw this particular MAX train. I thought it was pretty awesome. The words on the train are customer comments and info about the food served at Chipotle. It was some pretty eye catching OOH advertising.

Only thing better would be a MAX train that looked like a giant burrito wrapped in tin foil?? Has anyone seen that?

dasani goes green

As I was taking a refreshing sip of water in class a few days ago I noticed that the look of my $1.25 vending machine Dasani water bottle was different...

What is a plant bottle???? I investigated.

A PlantBottle from Dasani (owned by Coca-Cola) is a bottle made of petroleum and 30% plant-based materials, according to www.environmentalleader.com. The plant based materials are made from sugar cane.

This is a new push from Coca-Cola to be more eco-friendly, reduce their carbon footprint, and boost their corporate social responsibility. Coca-Cola's Vision Statement reads, "Portfolio: Bring to the world a portfolio of quality beverage brands that anticipate and satisfy people's desires and needs...Planet: Be a responsible citizen that makes a difference by helping build and support sustainable communities."

Coke is supporting two facets of their vision by creating packaging that people want and packaging that is better for the environment.

Devil's Advocate Questions:
1. How much more will it cost the consumer?
2. Where are they getting the "plant based materials, sugar, etc.?
3. Is the new raw materials ethically harvested?

Environmentalleader.com says that Coke plans on expanding into their flavored waters and vitamin water sometime in 2010. Hopefully some of those questions can be answered then...

so excited for october

is anyone else excited for october and the sox? right after i saw this commercial i was standing in the post office on 6th ave waiting to mail something (obviously). and what song comes on other than Sweet Caroline...what are the odds. and yes...i did break out in song....i was stared at :)

sneaky king

a simple commercial that shows the humor behind the secretive efforts of competitors. but how hard could it be...english muffin, egg, sausage, and cheese...right?

not sure what about this commercial i love but i think its because i love BK's commercials, hate McDs commercials, but hate BK's food and can tolerate McDs food.

Welcome to the dark side.......

Has anyone tried the Dark Cherry Mocha @ Starbucks? It came out a few weeks ago...basically chocolate, dark cheery syrup, milk, whip, and chocolate curly sprinkles in a cup for $4ish. Good cold day drink.

I had not tried one until I walked into the Starbucks on SW 6th and Jackson Street (Broadway Housing Bldg Starbucks) and saw the FREAKING AWESOME drawings the baristas had made to promote the drink.

I love when stores are allowed to express their own individuality and personalities. Plus...me being a big Starwars geek helps too..... :) This twist on the 'corporate infused' advertising definitely convinced me to try their tasty treat. If you get a chance run to this SB and see if the drawings are still up because it will put a "all-day smile" on your face!!!!!!!
